The knowledge you are sitting on

Apr 22, 2026

Start With This

You know how bodies work.

How systems fail. How patients get scared. How families grieve.

That knowledge has value far beyond the walls of your facility. The only question is whether you have started to think of it that way yet.

Something Worth Knowing

Good news on the content front.

Google now applies heightened scrutiny to healthcare content through its E-E-A-T framework: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. Healthcare organizations are being told, in plain terms, that generic content written by non-clinicians is a liability for their search rankings and their credibility.

Translation for you.

The content that ranks and the content that earns trust are now the content written by people who have actually been in the room. Your clinical background is not a nice-to-have for health publishers and healthcare brands. It is increasingly the thing they are required to demonstrate.

A Good Read

A lot of nurses assume they do not know anything "special enough" to write about professionally.

That assumption is almost always wrong.

The special thing is not some rare subspecialty or a research background. It is the specific set of problems you have solved, the questions you keep getting asked, and the transitions you have navigated without a map. Your monetizable niche is already there. It just has not been named yet.

This week's blog post walks through a practical framework for finding it. No guessing, no personal-branding nonsense. Just the questions to ask yourself.

Read: How to Identify What Part of Your Nursing Knowledge Is Monetizable

If this is the direction you want to explore, Health Writing 101: Introduction to Freelance Writing is the first course in our Certified Health Writer program. It is where nurses begin turning clinical knowledge into writing income. Learn more here.

One Small Step

Set a timer for five minutes.

Answer this question in writing: what do people ask me about most often, at work or outside of it, because they know I am a nurse?

Do not edit. Do not judge. Just write.

The items on that list are the beginning of a monetizable niche.

Take This With You

You became a nurse because you wanted to help people.

The knowledge you earned at the bedside does not have to stay there.
