RN2writer Makes History: First Writing Business Training Program to Earn Nursing CEU Accreditation
For Immediate Release
ALBUQUERQUE (March 5, 2025) – In a groundbreaking development for healthcare professionals seeking career alternatives, Inkslinger Communications LLC, DBA RN2writer, today announced it has been accredited by the Florida State Board of Nursing as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education. This pioneering accreditation enables nurses to earn continuing nursing education units (CNE, CE) while learning how to establish and grow their own freelance health writing businesses.
RN2writer is the first – and currently the only – company in its niche to achieve this distinctive designation, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of nursing career development.
This accreditation represents a dual benefit for nursing professionals: they can now explore entrepreneurial opportunities in health writing while simultaneously earning the Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required by most states for nursing license renewal. The accreditation also directly recognizes writing to be a valuable nursing skill.
"Since the day I founded RN2writer in 2014, my mission has been to expand the definition of the ‘practice of nursing’ to include consumer health reporting and corporate writing, to give nurses an entrepreneurial option for using their nursing knowledge to earn a living and help people, and to provide healthcare companies with trained health writers to report on various topics and produce marketing materials," said RN2writer founder and CEO Elizabeth Hanes BSN RN. "This accreditation from the Florida State Board of Nursing validates all of those goals."
The accreditation comes at a crucial time when healthcare communication needs have expanded dramatically, and the demand for accurate, professionally written health content continues to grow. RN2writer trains nurses to become self-employed health reporters and content marketing writers, enabling them to leverage their clinical expertise in new ways. In these roles, nurses can significantly influence public health discourse, assist consumers in making informed health decisions, and help healthcare companies accurately market their products and services.
“[RN2writer] is probably one of the best programs in leadership that I have ever been in in my 25 years of my healthcare career,” said RN2writer student Dr. Nancy Ferrell Jones DNP RN, “and that is no exaggeration. This [program] has just really reignited my passion for nursing.”
The comprehensive RN2writer training program offers nurses a proven pathway to either supplement their income or transition to a full-time writing career outside traditional clinical practice.
“RN2writer creates a supportive environment where you can get feedback not only from the coaches but from your peers, which is very valuable,” said RN2writer student Terry Ann Donner JD RN. “I would not have had the courage to pitch and successfully write for several major online publications without the training and support RN2writer – and Beth, personally – provide.”
Currently, RN2writer offers four CNE-certified courses that each award between 1.0 and 4.0 contact hours of continuing education credit. The company is actively working on accrediting all of its video trainings and courses. Beyond the benefits to nurses of the company’s CNE accreditation, Hanes says the pursuit of accreditation also represented a strategic business development move.
“As we continue to develop the RN2writer company and seek partners in our success, we feel achieving accreditation to provide CNE gives us a unique and insurmountable competitive advantage over similar programs authored by non-nurses or Artificial Intelligence bots, since only Registered Nurses can become accredited CNE providers in the U.S.,” Hanes said.
